5Great boots
By Michael Eckhardt
Bought a pair six year ago. Wore them daily, and some one weekends. Wore them out in three years. That is excellent for the HD use I put them through. After I wore them out, I bought two pairs, which I now alternate.

The previous reviewer is correct, they are not hot weather boots, although you can wear them. My climate is such that the temps hardly ever get above 75 and even those days are rare, so I wear these boots the year round. This is the only negative aspect of the boots that I've discovered.

The boots themselves are comfortable from day one. There is no break-in period, although they do become even more comfortable over time. No blisters, raw spots, pain or discomfort of any kind.

The boots are also extremely waterproof, even as they age. I use them daily around, and in, water. Puddles, or creeks, as long they're below the top of the boots are no problem. The boots stay consistently dry, even as they age.

Ankles and shin are well protected and well cushioned. And, the boots can be laced securely enough to provide support to the ankles while still not being too tight.

The tread on the soles is not pronounced so they shed mud and debris easily. A very nice feature in a waterproof boot.

Personally, I do zero maintenance on the boots, preferring to buy new when they wear out. When the boots of this type, the glued sole type, wear out, they usually do where the leather meets the sole, as there is a sharp edge there. Keeping the leather soft and supple would no doubt prolong the life span of the boot beyond the three years of HD use I expect from them.

Value is excellent for these boots. One frequently reads about getting more than one paid for, and in the case of these boots I happen to believe that it's true. I have actually paid 70% more for boots three times and I still prefer the Lacrosse Quads.

I should mention that I prefer glued sole boots because they have a lower and smaller base, and they tend to be more comfortable. A lower boot is safer as you're not as likely to trip in them, since there's less there for the boot to catch on. If you should twist your ankle you're less likely to get a severe sprain, or even a break, as the boot doesn't have to bend over that extra sole sticking out from the side of the boot.

I love these boots. Waterproof, comfortable, durable. They don't have many reviews here, but do elsewhere, and those reviews are quite positive as well.

4Lacrosse quad comfort boots
By kyle peterson
The longest lasting most comfortable boots I have ever worn. As a landscaper I would prefer a little more aggresive tread on the soles but they are still long lasting.

4Hard leather uppers good footbed
By Michael
I am a technician by trade and have been wearing boots for nearly 30 years, some cheap some really good boots usually when I could afford it I bought Red Wings. In this current economy I really can't afford the Red Wings so I decided after reading the reviews on these boots to give them a try.
We are getting ready for a week long hiking trip so I needed some waterproof boots for the hike thought if I got these a couple weeks ahead of time they would be broke in and ready.
First the positive these boots appear to be well put together nice looking boots. The foot bed is comfortable and the water proofing as best I can tell in a short time is good. I will agree with the other comments they are probably not good hot weather boots.I believe this is due to the tight water proofing, maybe not as breathable as some non water proof shoes, but hey thats the trade off for good water proof.

One note about size, these boots seem to me to be correctly sized order whatever size you normally wear and they should fit at least that's my experience.

For the negative these boots are very stiff, the uppers are hard, the leather very stiff. I don't get how some of the reviews can say they where comfortable out of the box, I have been trying for a week to get them broke in there starting to get a little looser but honestly I feel like the leather on these boots would crack before it will soften, we will see.

Update: after slathering mink oil on and wearing them every day the uppers are finally starting to feel much better, I am changing the rating and removing some negative comments I first had. A side note on the mink oil is the boots obviously totally change color from light brown/buckskin to dark brown, fine with me I don't care I would rather have them a little softer.
